A Rather Slaanesh Looking Chaos Warrior

I've really been enjoying all the pictures from the recent BOYL 2015 event that have been appearing all over various blogs that I follow. It looked like a great time was had by all which is great. I do sometimes times wonder if a similar event could be organised in Germany? I mean, they have achieved it in the US so why not in Germany too. I am, however, not volunteering my services! I just wonder if the interest is out there. As Pink Floyd once sang.............. "Is there anybody out there?"

Back to the post. The weather continues to be ridiculously hot here in Bavaria and, as an Englishman, this has been rather unbearable to get any painting done. However, I did manage to finish this Slaanesh looking Chaos Warrior:

 I’m not entirely sure the paint scheme works or if it’s even highlighted enough. To be honest I found the mini to be rather boring to paint. Anyway, it’s finished and posted up so that’s that.

Slaanesh Warband - Part 3

I managed to find the time to finish another Beastman for my Slaanesh Warband. It was also the first time I painted a shield with a symbol on it:

I copied the paint scheme from the White Dwarf issue 105 where he is pictured on page 24. I think he came out alright and I am quite happy with the shield. The shield design is actually also stolen from the 'Slaves to Darkness' book. The mounted Adolph von Gruslowe is sporting a better version of this shield than my attempt on page 156. I have two more figures for this warband that are about 90% finished, but I am not entirely happy with their paint jobs. I'll have to decide if they are even worthy of  being photographed, even from a 100 yards away before I post them on here! Bis nächstes mal.

Chaos Warrior Pestilens One-Eye

Here's the Chaos Warrior Pestilens One-Eye painted up in typical Slaanesh colours of pink and gold :

The shield is not actually for this mini, just merely for photo purposes. It's just, I hate painting shields! I really don't know why, but I just find them a tedious task. Hopefully, I can get around this little obsticle and get some more done. Also, the base is only half complete, but still looks quite acceptable. Snot green over brushed with Goblin Green. A classic combination.

Slaanesh Warband - Part 2

It's been really difficult to get any painting done with the really hot weather we've been having, but I managed to finish this little fella:

Having my head under a hot lamp sweating my nuts of was not the best feeling in the world, but I'm glad to have him finished. All Chaos Dwarf fans will know this fella as Scarsol Smashskull. A great name for a great mini.

Enter the Chaos Warriors Arnie Slicernecker and Pifco the Deliverer

I really liked it back in the day when GW would give a name to a miniature.  Here we have the two classic Chaos Warriors 'Arnie Slicernecker' and the fantastically named 'Pifco The Deliverer'.

In White Dwarf issue 81 there is the following colour advertisment:

Loads of classic Chaos Warriors with names. Look at the price of them back then. £1.95 for three! Time machine, time machine! I love the colour choice here with most of the Warriors, different hues of green. Most likely ink washes over bare metal which was popular with the GW painters back then. One thing that really bugs me though is the Warrior 'Gargog the Unstoppable'. The tab is still attached to the leg! Amatures!!!

Slaanesh Warband - Part 1

Just a quick post to showcase my first fully painted figure for a Warband I'm currently creating. Using the Realms of Chaos retinue table, I rolled 8 Beastmen, 6 Chaos Dwarfs and two Minotaurs. Obviously, these fowl creatures will be led by a Champion of Slaanesh. So here are some photo's of the chosen few:

I have nearly finished a Chaos Dwarf, but he is taking forever to paint and is not particularly looking good. When I take a photo of him, I think it will be at some considerable distance away! The weather has been around thirty degrees here in Bavaria and so painting has been unbearable, especially under a lamp! Friday the family and I are off to sunny old blighty to see family and friends, then to Cornwall for 5 days. I'm really, really looking forward to supping a few pints of scrumpy and various local ales. German beer is great, but you cannot beat the vast amounts of beer choices that we have in the UK. Until then fellow lead heads!

Let there be light!

I've been really struggling to take good pictures of my mini's to upload onto this blog. So, on the advise of my fellow leadhead, Oli ( lazydistraction.blogspot.com), I have created a Photobooth. I googled how to make one and stumbled upon a great blog (forgot which one, sorry!) which showed how to make one. Using a cardboard box, some aluminium foil and a backdrop and you have a very cost effective photobooth. Here's what I came up with in 20 mins:

Now, it's pretty basic and the backdrop is terrible but this is what some test photo's look like:

The backdrop is unbelievable crap and something I will look to improve, but the photobox seems to do to the job. Eat your heart out David Bailey!
